Along the ancient wall that leads to the port, one of the most evocative glimpses of the city, you come across the majestic Carlo V Castle<\/strong> built by the homonymous Spanish sovereign.<\/p>\r\n

Birthplace of Domenico Modugno, Polignano will conquer you with its cliffs overlooking the sea and its charming old town.<\/p>\r\n

Access is via the Marchesale Arch which leads, after a short stretch, to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. Here it is possible to admire the clock building, seat of the town hall until 1837 and the Mother Church of \u201cSanta Maria Assunta in Cielo\u201d.<\/p>\r\n

The most evocative and well-known glimpse of Polignano a Mare is surely Lama Monachile: the small cove surrounded by two sheer cliffs.<\/p>\r\n

From here plunge the champions of Red Bull Cliff Diving, the international diving competition from great heights held in Polignano.<\/p>\r\n

3 km from the city is San Vito Abbey, located in the homonymous village, on the sea. Here you can visit a complex of underground caves of karstic origin, among the most beautiful and spectacular in Italy. The corridors, the tunnels and the caves go down for about 3 kilometers at a depth of about 70 meters, falling to a maximum of 122 meters from the surface.<\/p>\r\n

In a surprising setting, you will find yourself thrown in a wonderful and unique world: among caves, canyons and deep abysses, you will discover fossils, stalactites, stalagmites, concretions of incredible shapes and unexpected colors.<\/p>\r\n

Of all the two most fascinating caves: the Grotta Bianca, elegant and majestic, leaves you breathless for the richness and whiteness of the alabaster and the Grave, from which the tourist route starts.<\/p>\r\n

It is a large cave, which is distinguished by an opening at the top, which had the task of connecting the underground world with the external one. The sinkhole, created in a natural way, lets light filter through the cave, creating extraordinary light effects.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

These typical limestone dwellings, extraordinary examples of dry stone slab construction, date back to the mid-14th century.<\/p>\r\n

Crossing the small alleys of Aia Piccola\u2019s district, continuing along the Monti district, with small craft shops and souvenir shops. At the top of the Monti district there is the Church of Sant\u2019Antonio, in the shape of a trullo.<\/p>\r\n

While visiting Alberobello, always in the Monti district you can observe the Siamese trullo, a communicating building joined by two cones on the top.<\/p>\r\n

The majestic Trullo Sovrano, a two-storey building with twelve cones built in the '600 first as a religious building and then converted to a stately home, arouses the admiration of visitors.<\/p>\r\n

Behind the Sovereign trullo there is the Sanctuary of Santi Medici: dedicated to the Saints Medici Cosma e Damiano, houses their reliquary and the painting of the \u201cMadonna di Loreto\u201d-<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
